WOW AND WONDER 7

Today’s post is based on the article  Developing Personal Learning Networks for Open and Social Learning in  Emerging Technologies in Distance Education.

Wow:

  • This is a very interesting article and it’s kind of a precursor to EDCI338. The authors describe how PLN was developed and established in section ED&I 831 beginning in 2008. The article also points out how to create a PLN and how interacting with others through yourself is an important learning process.
  • One of the ideas discussed in the article about the establishment and disappearance of learning groups is very interesting to me. For example, if a discussion group is set up for just one study session, it will probably disband at the end of the session. If the discussion group transforms into the content of this course, it is likely to become a platform for information exchange and thus live on.

Wonder:

  • The author points out that adults and children learn differently, Adults are more eager to find the answers they need and what suits their interests. I think the adult approach to learning is more active, but may lose part of the fun of learning. Will adult learning methods be of value to children?
  • From this article, we can see that the rise of the Internet has created an environment for PLN. With the continuous development of technology, will there be more learning styles or learning environments?
