Our goal is to let students master an economic concept — public goods. In the process of learning, we prefer to directly teach the knowledge that learners should learn. Therefore, inquiry-based learning, experiential learning, and open pedagogies are not suitable for our topic.
I think the teaching method suitable for our group is direct instruction. The advantage of direct instruction is that students can master theoretical knowledge very well. Direct instruction allows students to slowly understand and master new knowledge before teaching new knowledge, which is very suitable for new knowledge that they have not been exposed to.
In our teaching, we will classify the economic knowledge into several sections, and let the students slowly master all the new knowledge and then test and discuss these knowledge. This is done through exams and blog comments. Students can know how much they have mastered new knowledge through quiz. Then use blog posts and comments to understand other people’s thoughts to help you understand the knowledge. Teachers can also learn the students’ understanding through the quiz scores, so as to help them learn. Eventually, studen reach the level of master economic knowledge.
The teacher asked the students to repeat and memorize the theories they had learned through part of the teaching, and finally feedback the understanding level of some knowledge through quiz and blog. This direct instruction method is the most suitable method for this study.
